Questions and answers

The PostUp FAQ.

What PostUp is, what it costs, and how each part of it works.

PostUp in general

What is PostUp?

PostUp is a golf app that runs in your phone’s browser. Golfers use it for GPS yardages, scoring, stats, side games and booking tee times; organisers use it to run golf leagues, tournaments, cup weekends and charity outings; courses use it for online tee time booking and their tee sheet.

Do I need to download PostUp?

No. PostUp works in any phone or computer browser at postup.golf, and can be added to your home screen so it opens like an app.

How do I sign up?

Go to postup.golf/start and enter your name and email. PostUp emails you a link — tap it and you are in. There is no password.

What does PostUp cost?

Playing rounds with GPS, quick games for your group, planning a round with the Caddie and booking tee times are free. A league is $99 a year for the whole league. A single charity outing is free.

Who makes PostUp?

PostUp is built in the United States by golfers who run their own leagues and cup weekends. Get in touch at [email protected].

GPS & scoring

Is the PostUp golf GPS app free?

Yes. Playing a round with GPS yardages, keeping score for your group and getting the round summary by email is free. You need a free PostUp account, which takes an email address — no password.

Do I need to download an app?

No. PostUp runs in your phone’s browser and can be added to your home screen so it opens like an app. Your playing partners do not need to install anything either.

How does PostUp work out “plays like” yardage?

PostUp takes the live wind at the course and the height difference between you and the target, and adjusts the straight-line yardage for both. The adjusted number appears under the front, middle and back yardages.

Can my playing partners keep their own score?

Yes. Add them by searching their name on PostUp or by email. They get an invitation to the round and keep their own score from their own phone; everyone’s scores show on one card, and anyone in the group can correct a score.

What stats does PostUp track?

Score to par, fairways hit, greens in regulation, putts and chips per hole. They feed your stats page and your handicap index. If you do not want to log them for a round, tap “No thanks” and it will not ask again.

Which courses does it cover?

PostUp has hole layouts for tens of thousands of courses, including 27-hole facilities where you pick which two nines you are playing.

Can we play side games on the round?

Yes — turn the round into a quick game with skins, a Nassau, best ball, Vegas, Stableford and more, and PostUp settles who owes who at the end.

Advanced stats

What is strokes gained in golf?

Strokes gained measures each shot against how many strokes it usually takes to hole out from where you started and where you finished. A 150-yard shot from the fairway that finishes 10 feet away gains strokes; one that finishes in a bunker loses them. Added up, it shows which part of your game — driving, approach, short game or putting — costs you the most.

Do I need a launch monitor or shot sensors?

No. PostUp starts from your scorecard and you place each shot on the satellite map of the course. It takes a few minutes a round and works for any round you remember well enough to map.

Can I map a round I didn’t play on PostUp?

Yes. Enter the course, your tees, the date and your score on each hole — putts, fairways and greens are optional but make the first guess closer — then map it like any other round.

Why are my strokes gained numbers negative?

Because they are measured against a PGA Tour player. Almost every amateur loses strokes to the tour; what matters is where you lose them. That is why PostUp also compares you with golfers of your own handicap.

Can my golf coach see my stats?

If you book a lesson or a swing review through PostUp Lessons, you can share your rounds and Advanced stats with that pro — it is on by default when you ask, and you can stop sharing at any time. Nobody else sees them.

Is Advanced stats free?

Yes. Mapping rounds, strokes gained, the benchmarks, the practice plan and the Caddie’s read come with a free PostUp account.

Lessons & swing analysis

How much does a lesson cost on PostUp?

Each pro sets their own rates for lessons and swing reviews, shown on their profile. You pay the pro directly — PostUp doesn’t take a cut.

How do online swing reviews work?

Film your swing face-on or down the line, upload it and tell the pro what to look at. They reply with written feedback, a recorded video review with your swing marked up while they talk it through, or both, and you get an email when it is ready.

Can PostUp analyze my swing automatically?

Yes. Swing check measures your tempo, head movement, hip movement and posture from a phone video, and writes up to three things to work on, each with a drill. It tracks your body, not the club, so it can’t tell you about your clubface, swing path or ball flight — for those, send the video to a pro for a review.

Is the swing markup tool free?

Yes. Open it from Swing markup or Golf lessons, pick a video from your phone, and draw lines, angles and circles, step frame by frame and slow it down. Your video stays on your phone unless you save it.

Can I compare two of my swings?

Yes. Save swings to your library with the date, club and camera angle, then compare any two side by side or one above the other, each with its own controls, or linked to play together.

Can my coach see my rounds and stats?

When you book a lesson or swing review you can share your PostUp rounds and Advanced stats with that pro. It is on by default when you ask, and you can stop sharing at any time from My lessons.

I’m a golf pro — how do I list myself?

Apply from PostUp Lessons for pros. PostUp checks every pro before golfers can book them, usually within a day. Listing is free; you set your rates and golfers pay you directly.

AI Caddie

What is the PostUp Caddie?

It is a course-strategy planner. You pick a course, put in your clubs and distances and your usual miss, and it plans a target and a club for every hole around the hazards, the wind and the elevation.

Is it an AI?

The strategy comes from a shot simulation on the course map and your numbers; an AI model then explains each hole in plain golf language, the way a caddie would talk you through it.

Does it know my game?

It knows what you tell it: how far you hit each club and which way you tend to miss. Your bag is saved to your PostUp account, so you only set it up once.

How does the Caddie decide?

For each hole it simulates hundreds of shots for every club and aim, using a spread based on your handicap and pushed toward your usual miss. It scores where they finish — fairway, rough, sand, water, out of bounds — by expected strokes to finish, and recommends the plan with the lowest.

How much does it cost?

Planning a round is part of your free PostUp account.

Side games

Which golf side games does PostUp support?

More than fifty, including skins, Nassau, match play, Stableford, best ball, low net, Wolf, Hammer, Banker, Vegas, Sixes, Split Sixes, Chicago, Daytona, Umbrella, Quota, Rabbit, Bingo Bango Bongo, Dots, Murphys, St. James, Nines, Acey Deucey and Tug of War.

Does PostUp handle handicap strokes?

Yes. Each golfer’s course handicap is worked out from their index for the tees they play, and strokes fall on the right holes by stroke index. Every game can be played net or gross.

Does it work out who owes who?

Yes. Set a stake for each game and PostUp nets everything at the end into one list of who pays whom, which also goes out in the round summary email.

Does PostUp take payments?

No. PostUp only keeps the score and the tally — anything you play for is settled between your group however you normally do it.

Do my friends need the app?

No download is needed. Friends on PostUp can keep their own score; anyone else can just be a name on your card.

Is it free?

Yes, quick games for your group are free.

Tee times

Does PostUp charge a booking fee for tee times?

No. Booking a tee time on PostUp is free for golfers, and you pay the course directly when you check in.

How do PostUp tee time deals work?

Courses can discount a quiet stretch of tee times. Those times show the deal price with the regular price crossed out, golfers whose home course is nearby get a PostUp alert, and golfers who switch on deal emails get one email a day at most.

Can I book for my friends?

Yes. Book for up to four players and invite your PostUp friends to the tee time; they get a notification and an email and can say whether they are in.

How do I cancel a tee time?

Open My tee times in PostUp and tap Cancel. Each course sets how close to the time you can cancel in the app — after that, call the course.

Which courses are on PostUp?

Courses that have put their tee sheet on PostUp. If yours is not there yet, send them to postup.golf/tee-sheet-software — it takes a few minutes to set up.

For courses

What does PostUp tee sheet software include?

Online tee time booking with your intervals, hours and rates; a tee sheet your staff can run from any device (move, edit, add, block, check in, no-show); email reminders for golfers; flash deals that alert golfers nearby; booking insights with pricing recommendations; and staff logins.

Do golfers pay online?

Not yet — golfers pay at the club when they check in. Online payment is planned.

How do flash deals reach golfers?

When you start a deal, golfers whose PostUp home course is within the distance you choose get an in-app alert (two a day at most), and golfers who asked for deal emails get one email a day at most. You see how many were alerted and how many booked.

What pricing recommendations does PostUp make?

It looks at how full each time runs. Times that are 85% full or more are flagged as room to raise the price; times under 35% full are flagged for a deal or a lower standing rate. It also points out weekday-versus-weekend gaps, weak twilight times, high no-show rates and short booking lead times.

Can we take phone and walk-in bookings too?

Yes. Staff add bookings straight onto the sheet with a name, phone, number of players and an optional price of their own.

How long does setup take?

A few minutes. Register, set intervals, hours and rates, and PostUp approves the course — usually within a day — before golfers can book it.

Tournaments

What tournament formats does PostUp support?

Stroke play with a leaderboard, and match play brackets. Either can be singles or pairs, and net or gross.

How do golfers register?

They open the tournament on PostUp and register with their PostUp account, which carries their name, email and handicap index. You see the field as it fills.

Can I charge an entry fee?

Yes. Set the fee, say what it covers and add your own payment link — PostUp shows them to golfers and the money goes straight to you. You tick off who has paid. Or leave it free.

Where do golfers find my tournament?

Published tournaments appear on postup.golf/tournaments, which golfers search by area, and you get a link to share yourself.

Can I run a club championship or member-guest?

Yes — a match play bracket suits a club championship, and pairs with net scoring suits a member-guest. For a full season of club events with an order of merit, see PostUp for clubs.

Leagues

How much does the PostUp golf league app cost?

$99 a year for the whole league — not per golfer and not per round. Every golfer, every week and every side game is included.

Do golfers have to download an app?

No. You send a link, and it opens in their phone’s browser already knowing their league and their name. They can add it to the home screen if they like.

How are handicaps calculated?

PostUp keeps a handicap index from the cards your league posts and works out course handicaps for the tees you play. If your league uses a handicap service, enter those numbers and PostUp uses them.

Can we keep our own league rules?

Almost certainly. Points per win and tie, how subs are handled, bonuses, pickups and playoffs are all settings — and the Caddie can change them when you ask in plain words.

Can I move my league from another app?

Yes. The league wizard can import your league from another app, including golfers and handicaps, or you can set it up step by step.

Members Network

What is the PostUp Members Network?

A network of verified private golf club members who host each other. Members find members at other private clubs, request rounds, arrange reciprocals, and earn points and VIP status for hosting.

How do I get verified?

Tell PostUp your club and give a way to check it — a member number, a line we can confirm, or a photo of your member card. Members already on a PostUp club roster are verified straight away.

How do points work?

Hosting a verified member earns 100 points when both the host and the guest confirm the round was played; hosting a VIP earns 150 more and a reward. Two members who have hosted each other each get 50 for the reciprocal. 500 points makes you a VIP.

Is my contact information shared?

No. Members talk inside each request’s thread on PostUp; nobody’s email address is shown to another member.
