Who we are
PostUp (“PostUp”, “we”, “us”) makes the PostUp golf app at postup.golf and in the app stores. Questions about this policy or your information: [email protected].
What we collect
What you give us
- Your account: your name and email address. There’s no password — we email you a one-time sign-in link or code. You can add more email addresses to the same profile.
- Your profile, if you add them: a photo, a short “about”, your home course and town, and your handicap index.
- Your golf: rounds, scores, shots and stats (including rounds you import from another app — removable as a batch), the courses you play, practice notes, swing checks (the measurements and six still frames — the video stays on your phone unless you send it to a coach), your bag and distances, and games you set up or join (quick games, leagues, tournaments, outings, cups, season games, pick’em pools).
- What you share with other golfers: posts, photos, comments, reactions, messages, and the notes you add to a logged birdie.
- Settling up: if you choose to add them, your Venmo, Cash App or PayPal.me username so friends can pay you in their own app, and the payments you or a friend mark as made (amount, how, and when). PostUp never sees card or bank details and never moves money.
- Bookings and requests: tee times you book (name, players, optional phone), lesson requests and swing videos you send a coach, enquiries to a golf resort, job applications to a club, and feedback you send us.
What we collect automatically
- Location, if you allow it: your phone’s location is used to show yardages on the course and to find courses, leagues and tee times near you. We don’t keep a history of where you’ve been. If you mark your shots on the map, those spots on the course are saved with that round, as part of your stats.
- Device and usage information: your browser or device type, IP address (used to stop abuse such as too many sign-in emails), and pages visited, measured with Google Analytics.
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in. We don’t use advertising cookies.
From other golfers and organisers
A league, tournament, outing or club organiser may add your name, email and handicap to their roster, and playing partners may add you to a round. That’s how PostUp can send you the link to your league or show you your card.
How we use it
- To run the app: keep score, work out handicaps and side-game results, show leaderboards, and send the emails and notifications you’d expect (sign-in links, round summaries, league updates, reminders).
- To show your activity to the people you choose — see Who sees what below.
- To keep PostUp safe: stop spam and abuse, and review content golfers report.
- To improve PostUp, using aggregate usage numbers.
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
Who sees what
- Your friends feed: posts and round results go to people who follow you. Make your profile private and only golfers you approve can follow you. Your profile settings let you choose what’s posted automatically.
- Search: other signed-in golfers can find you by name unless you switch off “Find me by name”. Your email address is never shown to other golfers.
- Games you join: the other players in a round, league, tournament, outing or season game see your name and scores in that game.
- Coaches, clubs and resorts: only what you send them (a lesson request, a booking, a message), and your rounds and stats only if you choose to share them with a coach.
Services we use
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting the app and storing its data |
| Mailgun and Resend | Sending emails (sign-in links, summaries, reminders) |
| Stripe | Card payments to organisers, courses and coaches who connect their own Stripe account. Your card details go to Stripe, never to PostUp; PostUp only learns that a payment was made, for how much, and whether it was refunded. |
| Twilio | Sending the text messages you said yes to, and receiving your replies (STOP, HELP, Y / N) |
| Google Analytics | Counting visits and how the app is used |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Writing the Caddie’s hole-by-hole advice and other AI features, reading a scorecard photo you choose to scan or screenshots of your round history from another app that you choose to import, and writing coach notes on a swing check. We send the course, your numbers, your question, the photo or screenshots, or six still frames of your swing with its measurements — never the swing video itself, and not your email address. |
| Google (MediaPipe) | The swing check’s body-tracking model, downloaded to your phone and run there. Your video is read on your phone and isn’t sent to Google. |
| Esri and the U.S. Geological Survey | Satellite map and green-contour images. Your device asks them for the pictures of the course you’re on, so they see its IP address — nothing about you. |
| Open-Meteo and GolfCourseAPI | Weather at the course, and course scorecards and ratings. They get the course, never anything about you. |
They process information only to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect golfers’ safety.
Keeping it, and deleting it
We keep your information while you have an account. You can delete your account at any time from your profile (Profile → Delete my account) or by following these steps. When you do:
- your profile, posts, photos, comments, reactions, messages, follows, notes, payment usernames, practice, shot maps and swing checks are deleted;
- scores that other golfers’ results depend on — a league week, a tournament, an outing, a round you played with friends — stay, under the name “Former golfer”, with your email and contact details removed;
- you’re signed out everywhere.
Backups are overwritten within 30 days. Emails we already sent can’t be unsent.
Your choices and rights
- Download your data: Profile → Download my data gives you a file of everything we keep about you.
- Correct it: edit your profile, or ask your league organiser to fix a roster entry.
- Notifications: switch each kind on or off in your profile; every email has a way to stop it.
- Block and report: block anyone, and report posts, comments or messages that break the rules.
Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move your information, and to object to some uses. Use the tools above or email [email protected] — we answer within 30 days.
Text messages
If you add your mobile number on your profile and tick the box to say yes, PostUp texts you about your games: the card after a round or league night, invites to games, and — if your league turns it on — whether you’re playing this week. You confirm the number with a code first, and you choose which of those you get. Message frequency varies with how much you play; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any text to stop them all, or HELP for help. A friend can also add your mobile to invite you to a round or season game, which sends you one text with the link; STOP works for those too.
We don’t share your mobile number with anyone for their marketing. Mobile numbers, and the yes you gave to texts, are never sold, rented or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. They are used only to send the texts described here, through Twilio.
Children
PostUp is for golfers 13 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe a child has an account, email us and we’ll delete it.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS, sign-in links expire and work once, and we never store passwords because there aren’t any. No system is perfectly secure, so tell us at [email protected] if you spot a problem.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll say so in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
